The following statement can be attributed to Randall Wenger, Esq. Chief Counsel at Independence Law Center:
“This landmark decision underscores the essential role parents play in their children’s lives and education. As we highlighted in our brief, when school policies deeply conflict with families’ religious convictions, parents must retain the right to opt out. Pennsylvania schools should take clear note of this precedent.”
The following statement can be attributed to Lauren Hackett, Esq., Legal Counsel at Independence Law Center:
“We applaud this decisive affirmation of parental rights. As our brief argued, parents—not schools—should hold primary authority over sensitive curriculum decisions, especially those involving deeply held religious beliefs. This ruling reinforces the critical need for similar protections in Pennsylvania.”
The following statement can be attributed to Jeremy Samek, Esq., Senior Counsel at Independence Law Center:
“Today’s decision is a critical victory for parental rights. As articulated in our amicus brief, just as parents have the right to prevent coercion into specific religious doctrines, they also have the right to protect their children from gender-identity indoctrination in schools.”
